What is ParentConnect?

ParenConnect software is a convenient home-to-school collaboration tool that allows parents/guardians to keep track of their children's academic progress online via an easy to-use web site. Parents/guardians may visit the password-protected site to view school announcements as well as their students' schedules, grades, assignments, daily and period attendance and course history

Who is Eligible to use ParentConnect?

All parents/guardians that have legal rights to view their children's school records. At this time, ParentConnect is only available to parents of students attending Klahowya Secondary School

Can more than one parent/guardian have access to a child's record?

Yes. Each Parent/guardian can register individually and will receive his/her own unique password. Parents must have legal rights to view their child's school records.

What are the minimum computer requirements to use ParentConnect?

You will need an Internet Provider. The system works best on the following Internet browsers: Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater, AOL 5.0 or greater, or Netscape 4.7 or greater. Either an IBM compatible or a Macintosh computer can be used.

What if I do not have a computer in my home?

You can use any computer with Internet access to view the ParentConnect website. The Public Library, your local senior center (if you are a senior citizen), and Internet Cafes all have computers where you can access the Internet.

How secure is my child's data?

We use the most up-to-date security processes available to protect unintentional access to all student data pulled down from the school site to the ParentConnect server. The data is extremely secure on the ParentConnect website.

How is the data updated?

The data is refreshed every night. Most data displayed on ParentConnect will be current as of the previous day. The exception is the Assignment information, which comes from the teacher's grade book. That data will be as current as the grade book.

How long will it take to activate my account ParentConnect account?

After a quick on-line registration process, your user account and password will be available at the main office of your school in three working days. Please be prepared to show your identification

How do I add additional children to my current ParentConnect account?

As long as you have legal rights to see that child's records, you may send and e-mail to the ParentConnect administrator to have additional students added.

What do I do if I get "locked" out of my ParentConnect account?

As a security measure, if you have three failed attempts at inputting your user name and password the system will lock you out from accessing your account. This protects you from having someone sit down and continually try to guess your password. The system will automatically reset itself within 24 hours. There is NO need to contact anyone about this problem.

What information can i see from the Assignments pencil?

Upcomming assignments and grades of completed assignments are displayed in a report or table format. A schedule is also available which will show the current grade in each class.

Which grades are listed when I click on the Grades pencil?

The default setting for viewing information is based on the current date. When selecting the pencil for Grades, the system will display the grades for the current 9 weeks. If you click on the left or right arrows, above the grade box, you can scroll to a different reporting period.

How do I view my child's attendance record?

Click on the pencil for Attendance. The system will automatically display the current month. If you would like to view a previous month, click on the left arrow next to the month.

How do I get more details about attendance issues?

If your child was absent or tardy to class or school, you will see a symbol noted on the day that the infraction took place. To get more information about that day, click on the symbol and the history for the month will appear.
